What Does “Eyes to See” Mean?
When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the Temple, most people probably saw an ordinary family carrying a little baby.
But Simeon saw something more.
God had promised Simeon that he would see the Messiah before he died. When Simeon saw Jesus, he recognized that God’s promise had been fulfilled. He held Jesus and praised God.
Anna recognized something special too. She had spent many years worshiping, praying, and serving God at the Temple. When she saw Jesus, she thanked God and began telling others about Him.
Simeon and Anna had eyes to see what God was doing.
Sometimes God’s work doesn’t arrive with flashing lights or a giant sign. It may appear in ordinary moments, quiet answers, small acts of kindness, or opportunities we could easily overlook.
We can ask God to help us pay attention.
The more we learn about Him, pray, listen, and notice what is happening around us, the better we become at recognizing His goodness and the opportunities He gives us to love others.
