What Does “The Word Became Flesh” Mean?

The Word Became Flesh begins our Christmas Journey with something amazing: Jesus didn’t begin in Bethlehem. Before He was born as a baby, He was already with God. The Bible calls Jesus “the Word” because He shows us who God is.

Then Jesus did something incredible. He became human and came into our world. He was born as a baby, lived among ordinary people, and experienced life just as we do.

God didn’t choose to remain far away from us. Through Jesus, He came near.

Jesus showed people God’s love, kindness, truth, and faithfulness. The baby we celebrate at Christmas grew up to show the world what God is like and how deeply He loves us.

The Word Became Flesh reminds us of something we can carry with us every day: God comes near.

When you feel scared, lonely, sad, or unsure, remember that God isn’t far away. You can talk to Him anywhere and anytime.

For little ones, the whole story can be remembered in one simple sentence:

“Jesus came to be with us because God loves us.”
